Food Garden

2014 is the first summer for the St. John’s food garden.  We are excited about being a part of a growing movement among churches and other faith communities.  Using church land and volunteer labor, we are growing fresh produce to be distributed to folks in neighborhoods very near to us who are in “food desserts” with little access to healthy, fresh produce.  In the summer of 2014 food grown in the garden has been distributed through the Rich Township Food Pantry and through the food pantry at St. Clement’s Episcopal Church in Harvey.  We hope in the future to partner with other faith communities and expand both the amount of food grown and also the ways it is distributed to those who would benefit.
