Pastor Orr was called as Rector of St. John the Evangelist in January, 2004.  A graduate of Virginia Seminary, she was ordained to the transitional diaconate in 1991 and the priesthood in 1992.  She began her ordained ministry as Assistant Rector at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Houston, Texas.  Later she served as locum tenens (Interim Rector) at St. Mark’s before being called as Rector of St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church in Brewer, Maine, in 1999.

In the Diocese of Texas Pastor Orr served on the Diocesan Liturgical Commission and on the board of Autry House, the Episcopal chaplaincy at Rice University.  In Maine she represented the Diocese of Maine on the Province 1 Commission on the Environment.  Since coming to the Diocese of Chicago, she has served on Diocesan Council, on the task force on reunification of the Dioceses of Chicago and Quincy, and is currently Dean of the Joliet Deanery.  She also serves as the Convener of the South Suburban Interfaith Ministerial Association.

In her “previous life” Kristin worked as a geologist.  Her graduate research was on the geologic evolution of the Okanogan highlands in eastern Washington and southern British Columbia.  She later worked as a research scientist for Exxon Production Research Company.

Kristin’s family roots are in the Big Horn Mountain area of Wyoming.  She enjoys hiking in the mountains each summer on vacation.  In Chicago she loves Lyric Opera and Cubs baseball.  She shares the Rectory with her two dogs:  Lupine, a Golden Retriever, and Tallis, a Newfoundland.
