Music
The mission of the Music ministry is
to offer music for the glory of God at both church services
and other related events, and to promote musical education,
especially among children. Vital to this ministry is the
choir, comprised of members ranging from high school students
to retirees, all of whom simply enjoy singing. The choir
provides choral music for the 9:30 a.m. Sunday worship service
during the months from September through May, as well as for
certain special services year-round. Choir members rehearse on
Sunday mornings from 8:15 a.m. to 9:15 a.m., and for 45
minutes following the 9:30 a.m. service. The choir
occasionally has opportunities to sing at special events, such
as leading the national anthem at a recent Special Olympics
Tennis Open. Parishioners are always welcome to volunteer to
sing or play instrumental preludes, anthems, or postludes at
worship services. Volunteers interested in sharing the gift of
music with the shut-in and the community at large can
participate in a caroling group at Christmas. Those interested
in working with children can teach or accompany the children
who sing and perform at our annual Christmas Eve Christmas
pageant. And for those who may or may not have musical ability
themselves, there is always the opportunity to organize and
promote new outlets for musical expression, such as special
concerts or recitals. |
