Each year, two big events draw people from throughout the local area to St. John’s.
The first Saturday in December, the women of the church organize the Holiday Cookie Walk. Parishioners bake a wide range of homemade cookies which are offered for sale by the pound. Many of the proceeds are given as grants to local social service agencies.
On July fourth the parish hosts an old time ice cream social. The event follows the Flossmoor children’s parade and includes hot dogs, ice cream, cold drinks and entertainment.
St. John’s also provides space for an AA group, a girl scout troop, a local children’s choir, and occasionally other local organizations.
